It did not explode on me 
I would not recommend offroading in the least with the Hovertrax 2.0. No grass. No gravel. Even uneven sidewalk can be an issue. But, this is a problem with almost all hoverboards that is not unique to the Hovertrax 2.0. You want a smooth surface to be able to ride properly.
